Last month, I introduced the concept of human design and my intention to experiment living more into mine as I turned 34, with the intention of creating more ease, joy and flow in my life :-) 

Well, shortly after writing that post, the Universe presented a human design course in my path that just lit my soul up reading the description. So I dove in to learning more and found it absolutely fascinating. 

The part I love most about human design is that it’s all an ‘experiment’ (and really, isn’t much of life an experiment anyways?)...meaning it’s not supposed to be taken as dogma or truth or even overanalyzed. 

We’re simply invited to understand what our design is, live into it and see for ourselves what does and doesn’t benefit us. 

And the reason why so many people love it is because it does tend to feel good and life feels in flow when living into our design. 

People have called it the ‘Energetic Myers-Briggs’, and human design is now a component I include when coaching clients. 


Below is a brief summary of the energy types from one of the accounts I love to follow on Instagram, @my.human design. We can think of our ‘energy type’ as the foundation of our human design that we want to first understand.

This is a very brief synopsis of each type, but the bottom line is that we’re all puzzle pieces meant to fit together and help one another out in our own unique and special way. No type is ‘better than’ or ‘worse than’, and when we learn to live into our designs, life gets flowy and fun. 

A main component of living our design is shedding layers of condition the world and society has placed upon us, and this is where coaching comes in. It’s been said that living into our human design is less about ‘becoming’ our design and more about ‘unbecoming’ what we’ve forced ourselves into. 

And this is where coaching comes in: we dive into dismantling and eliminating limiting beliefs and stories and shifting our mindset to one that empowers us.


So in summary, living into our design to create the life of our dreams is more of a ‘letting go’ process more than anything else.
