Feb Insights: 5 Lessons I learned right after turning 33

I turned 33 in Feb y’all 🙌 So when thinking about Feb’s blog post topic, I thought it was fitting to talk about what I learned from another birth that happened this month

Feb was not just my birthday, but also the official birthday of incorporating my business under the name of Inspired Acceleration LLC (yay! We offish!! 🙌 🍾)

But during the process, something not so hot happened that made me not so happy.

And while I may share the actually deets later, the fact of the matter is that something happened that cost more time and money and could have been avoided if I slowed down and cross checked some things. 🤷‍♀️

But in the moment, I was in the moment…I didn’t want to hesitate, I wanted to make the decision and do the thing. I had/have a tendency to procrastinate, and choose not to in that moment. I was proud of myself.

So when I had discovered this mistake, I almost started down the road of negative self-talk. No bueno at all and that does nothing, so instantly switched it around (lesson 1: talk to yourself as you would your best friend/child, etc—with love and understanding).

Next, I thought of the lesson I learned from this, thanks to the quote “there are no mistakes, just lessons learned” (lesson #2: learn the lesson 😁). Almost within the hour of this happening, I saw this quote posted by one of my mentors Dr. Shante Cofield, aka the Movement Maestro, who is quoting Sandra Daniels, and now, pass it along to you:

“You don’t get to choose the trials and tribulations you go through. But you do get to choose how you go through them“

Lesson #3: lessons (if you choose to learn from them) come up at the perfect times. I don’t believe in coincidences, so I choose to quickly choose to start thinking about how this lesson serves me. Yes, this ‘cost’ me in time, energy, money, but does learning this lesson now preserve even more loss of time, energy and money in the future. Why yes, yes it does. 😎

The lesson also serves as a reference point of resilience, knowing if I can get through this, I can get through anything, and I cherish those opportunities to build resilience and character (lesson 4: you can only build resilience and strong sense of character through practice and experience, so learn to love those seeds of adversity and they will love you back).

No matter what may be happening around us or to us, our happiness, our attitude and how we react is always, always, always a choice. Always. And the sooner we acknowledge that, the sooner we become empowered. (Lesson 5).

I’ve learned you can’t have a positive life without a positive mind, and I want THE most positive experience of life evah, that’s my wish as I embark on this year of being 33 and beyond.

So let’s quickly revisit what I stated above “something not so hot happened that made me not so happy. ”

Did you catch the error in that sentence?

That situation didn’t make me unhappy, I allowed myself to dip into unhappiness. And I choose to jump back out of it. This situation gave me a powerful lesson in choice. (Again, lesson #5).

So I will leave you with these pearls for now, and would love to hear what you think…Do you agree? Disagree? What situations could you have seen as bummers but chose to see as lessons to learn from? I’d love to know in the comments below or in a quick email.

In next month’s blog, I will be discussing the power of emotions, how they serve us, what they teach us and so much more. I can’t wait and will see ya in the post!
