My New Gratitude Practice

I’ve heard it over and over again, and I’m sure you have to-gratitude changes everything. It changes your perspective, it elevates your mood, it brings you to a different, special, space when you need it. But if you’ve been struggling like me with establishing a consistent gratitude practice, I invite you on my journey in establishing one.

With Thanksgiving a few days behind us, I’m left with the warm-cozy feelings that filled the day: family, friends, good food, and the collective reflection of what we were grateful for.  Before we sat down to eat, we went around the room and spoke of what we were most grateful for. It was interesting that we each couldn’t just say one thing…one thing was spoken after another, trying to shine a spotlight on all we cherished at that particular moment in time. It was beautiful. And the thing is is that we can do this anytime and as often as we want.

So inspired by a blog post I read and a conference I attended this past year, I decided to establish a practice that would make gratitude more consistent in my life: at the end of each day, before heading off to sleep, I’ll write down three things I’m grateful for that happened that day, or my three favorite things that happened that day.  It’s simple, but think it will make a huge difference.

If you have any gratitude practices or rituals, I’d love to hear about them! I know there are SO many out there!!
